Fabrizio Ravanelli shock contender for Middlesbrough jobby Jack Kitson / 05 November 2013, 09:18Tweet
Middlesbrough legend Fabrizio Ravanelli has emerged as a shock contender for the Riverside vacancy after leaving Corsican club Ajaccio. The former Boro star scored 17 goals in 35 appearances for the club back in the 1990s but could now be set to make a sensational return to Teessiders as manager.
Ravanelli was sacked by Ajaccio at the weekend after just one win in 12 games left the struggling club 19th in Ligue 1. It was the Italian's first job in the management arena but in the end it was abruptly cut short and he will now be keen to sink his teeth into another job. The 44-year-old has surprisingly been installed as the bookmakers' favourite in the Next Middlesbrough Manager Market, with Sky Bet pricing him at 7/4.
Ravenelli's lack of experience is likely to count against him meaning it could be worth looking elsewhere in the betting. Caretaker boss Mark Venus remains in the mix at 5/2, as do the likes of Aitor Karanka (6/1) and Stuart Pearce (8/1). Elsewhere former player Juninho is a long shot at 33/1.
