When The Going Gets Tough! 'Sparky' Hughes Hats Offby Mick Bates / 06 December 2009, 06:55Tweet
Just seven days ago, we were suggesting that Mark Hughes could be in danger of losing his job as Manchester City boss, however, we should know better as the one thing that Sparky does is fight, he is the ultimate scrapper and this week has been one of his very best as a football manager.
Last week Manchester City had just completed a run of seven drawn games mostly against inferior teams but this week he has secured a semi final place in the Carling Cup beating Arsenal albeit an second rate side. He also managed to get the better of the managerial warfare with Wenger in the now famous hand shake row.
What has topped all of that was their victory over premier league leaders Chelsea, having gone a goal down they came back to win 2-1 with his team showing great spirit. Man City have now put themselves in a position to go on a good run over Xmas and get themselves back into the top four in the league.
Man City have been drawn against arc rivals Man Utd in the semi finals of the Carling Cup and a win here could set up Sparky for his first managerial trophy.
A week is a long time in Politics, the same also applies to football management! looks like we will have to put on hold the betting for the Next Man City Manager.
