Graham Alexander Appointed Fleetwood Town Manager

Fleetwood Town have named Graham Alexander as their new manager following Saturday's shock sacking of Micky Mellon. Alexander takes charge of a team lying seventh in League Two with aspirations of getting promoted following their promising start to the season. It will be the 41-year-old's first job in management having previously briefly been in caretaker charge of Preston.

"Grezza" has swapped his job as head of youth at Preston to take up the reins at Highbury Stadium. The Scot enjoyed a lengthy playing career at the likes of Preston, Burnley, Luton and Scunthorpe. Furthermore he made over 40 appearances for his country. He beat off competition from the likes of Phil Brown and Steve Thompson to land the job and he will take charge of his first match on Saturday at home to Southend.
