Simon Grayson Favourite For The Chopby Mick Bates / 06 September 2011, 09:17Tweet
Simon Grayson is coming under heavy pressure following Leeds United's sloppy start to the season. Expectations were high after Grayson had took Leeds to promotion from League One in 2010 and then guided them to just outside the Championship play-off positions last season. However, an inconsistent start to the new season has thrust Grayson into the spotlight as his job becomes under threat. As a result he has been installed as the bookies 3/1 favourite in the Next Championship Manager To Be Sacked Betting.
Leeds are currently struggling way down in 19th in the Championship after picking up just four points from their opening five games. In fairness they haven't had the easiest of starts with tough away matches to promotion candidates Southampton and West Ham and also Middlesbrough at Elland Road. Both Grayson and the Leeds supporters were left frustrated at the end of the transfer window after they lost last season's player of the year Max Gradel, while failing to recruit any of their main targets. This is in stark contrast to big spending West Ham and Leicester who both brought in a host of high quality players. In the long run this could cost the club as it may hinder their bid for promotion, with their odds now standing at 10/1 to go up with Paddy Power.
Grayson faces a crunch couple of weeks with home matches against Crystal Palace and Bristol City followed by a mouth-watering Carling Cup tie against Manchester United on 20th September. These three results could define Grayson's future at the club and if things don't go to plan expect a Next Manager of Leeds United betting market to open up.
Next up for Grayson and Leeds are in-form Crystal Palace at Elland Road. Paddy Power have Leeds available at odds of 15/6 to beat Palace, why the away side have odds of 10/3 to come away with the win, with a draw priced at 12/5.
