Simon Grayson rules out Blackpool return as Ian Holloway remains favouriteby Jack Kitson / 07 August 2018, 08:29Tweet
Simon Grayson has appeared to rule out a return to former club Blackpool following the shock exit of Gary Bowyer.
Bowyer left Seasiders supporters stunned on Monday night after he stepped down from his post just three days and one game into the new League One season.
Within a few hours Sky Sports News were reporting that Blackpool were eager to lure ex boss Grayson back to Bloomfield Road, however the 10/1 shot has since told BBC Radio Lancashire:
“I don’t think I’m ready to go back into management.
“I had the option of a two-year deal at Bradford which I turned down because I didn’t think it was right for me.
“At this moment in time I’m enjoying my time off and I’m enjoying my media work. So I would think it would be very unlikely I would go back to Blackpool at this moment in time.”
However, Grayson does believe that the vacancy will attract a lot of interest.
Another former Tangerines manager, Ian Holloway, remains the early bookmakers favourite for the post at 5/1, followed by interim boss Terry McPhillips (6/1), and Grayson, while the likes of Mick McCarthy, Keith Curle and Darren Ferguson are hovering around the 12/1 mark.
Blackpool drew their opening game away to Wycombe and are next in action at home to Portsmouth on Saturday, which is followed by an EFL Cup clash against fellow third-tier side Barnsley a week Tuesday.
