Dave Jones In The Running For Huddersfield Town Jobby Jack Kitson / 07 February 2013, 10:13Tweet
The Huddersfield Town Manager Market is really starting to hot up, with the likes of Dave Jones, Graeme Jones, Gary Megson, Mark Robins and Nigel Adkins all in the running to succeed the sacked Simon Grayson. A host of other managers such as Alex McLeish and Paul Ince also feature, with the club seemingly no closer to naming a replacement.
Huddersfield are currently one of three Championship clubs who are on the hunt for a new manager. Nottingham Forest and Blackpool are also on the lookout, meaning competition is stiff, with a number of managers linked with all three clubs.
As things currently stand it is Graeme Jones and Gary Megson who are the favourites with most bookmakers. Surprise contender Jones is currently working as a coach at Wigan, while Megson has been out of work since he was sacked by Sheffield Wednesday just under a year ago. Meanwhile the current Sheff Wed boss, Dave Jones, has had his odds slashed from 20/1 to just 4/6 with bookmakers Sky Bet, who have installed him as the firm favourite.
The new manager will be given the opportunity to attack the loan transfer market, with the club's chairman, Dean Hoyle, prepared to break budget in order to boost Town's chances of staying in the Championship.
In other news caretaker manager Mark Lillis, who is a 14/1 outsider with Sky Bet, will take charge of 17th placed Town for Saturday's match at home to high-flying Cardiff, who are currently 10 points clear at the top of the table. Paddy Power have handed the hosts odds of 14/5 to claim a valuable win, while Cardiff go into the match as the hot 10/11 favourites for the three points.
