Frustrated Real Madrid set to switch focus to Chelsea boss Antonio Conteby Jack Kitson / 07 June 2018, 08:19Tweet
It's been a week since Zinedine Zidane announced his resignation from Real Madrid as he brought to an end one of the most successful managerial spells in the club's trophy-laden history.
The Spanish giants have since been linked with a catalogue of the most high-profile bosses in the game today, from the Premier League duo of Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp, to the Italian pair of Max Allegri and Maurizio Sarri.
There's been a gaffer nearing the end of his managerial career, Arsenal Wenger, and one looking to kick-start his pathway to glory, Guti.
But, while the betting remains wide open, rejections at the hands of Pochettino and Allegri, means that Real Madrid have now reportedly set their sights on Chelsea boss Antonio Conte (Daily Mail).
Conte's future at Stamford Bridge is still shredded in doubt, with the likes of Sarri, Laurent Blanc and Luis Enrique in-line to replace the Italian should, as expected, he leave south west London, while Zidane has also been linked.
Conte, 4/1, would no doubt jump at the chance to manage Real Madrid, and in turn attempt to win another major European league title, having already done so in both England and Italy.
The Italian's impressive CV means he fits the bill in terms of his ability to manage big teams - Chelsea and Juventus - and win domestic honours, although Real are believed to hold reservations over his clashes with Chelsea's hierarchy.
Whoever gets the Los Blancos job will instantly be under an avalanche of pressure as they will be expected to win every competition the club enters. Meanwhile, a number of the current crop of Galacticos are unsure of their own futures at the Bernabeu.
