Big bets placed on David Moyes joining Man Utdby Jack Kitson / 07 May 2013, 09:14Tweet
Bookmakers have slashed the odds on David Moyes becoming the Next Man Utd Manager following a flurry of bets on the Scot. The Everton boss is out of contract at Goodison Park this summer and can now be found at just 10/11 with Sky Bet to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
Moyes has long been one of the favourites to replace Fergie when his fellow Scot finally calls time on his managerial career; however it still be a massive shock if he came in this summer. Fergie has recently spoken of his desire to carry on at the helm for at least a couple more years and will no doubt be keen to reignite his rivaly with Jose Mourinho should the Portuguese coach return to Chelsea this summer.
Ferguson recently led Man Utd to a 13th Premier League crown to expand his trophy collection to a staggering 38 since taking charge of United back in 1986. Meanwhile Everton look set to finish in 6th place above fierce local rivals Liverpool for the second successive season. Moyes' contract at the club may expire in a few weeks but he is widely expected to sign a new deal with the Toffees, although there will no doubt be a number of managers waiting in the wings should he depart.
