Lee Clark Early Favourite For Birmingham City Vacancyby Jack Kitson / 08 June 2012, 09:58Tweet
Lee Clark has emerged as the early favourite to replace Chris Hughton at Birmingham City. On Thursday Hughton was confirmed as the new Norwich City manager, leaving the Blues after just a year in charge. The Midlands club will now begin their hunt for a new manager with Clark currently the odds-on favourite in the Next Birmingham City Manager Betting.
Clark has been out of work since his surprise sacking by Huddersfield back in February. The Terriers were in a decent position in League One but with speculation linking Clark to Leeds United they reacted in shocking fashion by giving him the boot. Neil Warnock went on to take charge of Leeds, leaving Clark without a job. He has since been linked with a number of vacancies, including Gillingham, but has remained stum on his future.
The new manager will be expected to lead the club to a top six finish at the very least. Under Hughton Birmingham finished fourth last season but were beaten by Blackpool in the play-offs. Other names in contention at this early stage include Alan Curbishley, Billy Davies and Mick McCarthy. Meanwhile outside bets include Ian Holloway, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Nicky Butt.
