Mike Phelan in charge of Hull City's opening game with Leicester Cityby Jack Kitson / 09 August 2016, 09:54Tweet
Hull City's caretaker manager Mike Phelan will take charge of the club for their opening Premier League clash at home to defending champions Leicester City.
Phelan, who is as short as 1/6 in the betting, has been given the opportunity to prove himself in the dugout, and who knows, a win could see him bag the job on a permanent basis.
Since Steve Bruce pulled the plug last month the Next Hull City Manager Market has thrown up a whole host of different gaffers, including the likes Chris Coleman, Roberto Martinez, Gianfranco Zola, and Phil Brown, while Roberto Mancini was even linked with the post following Monday's departure from Inter Milan.
However, Phelan has topped the betting since Saturday, and has now been given the chance to stake his claim for the permanent job.
The 53-year-old has overseen five friendly fixtures since Bruce's departure, including Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Torino.
