Time at Club:
Cheltenham Town appointed Gary Johnson in March 2015. The experienced gaffer was unable to save the club from relegation out of League Two but they made an instant return after winning the National Conference in 2015/16, before preserving their Football League status last term.
Established in 1887, Cheltenham Town had always been associated with the non league scene, but in more recent times they have been a mainstay of the lower echelons of the football league having worked their way through the leagues.
Having appointed Steve Cotterill in the 1996/1997 season, the Robins began on a meteoric rise up the football ladder and promotion from the Southern League Premier saw them promoted to the Conference and it only took a couple of years before Cotterill gained another promotion and the clubd found themselves playing in the football league.
Cotterill continued to inspire and in the 2002-2003 season, Cheltenham Town were victorious in the play-offs and ventured into the second divisio, but at the end of the season, Cotterill left and went to Stoke City and the club failed to cement their position in Division Two and suffered relegation the following season.
Another play-off success under the stewardship of John Ward saw them return to the third tier of English football, but yet again suffered relegation to League Two.
Cheltenham Town have a solitary win against Morecambe and 1 draws against Colchester United over the last 10 games to thank for earning a mediocre 4 points. Cheltenham Town have surrendered 20 goals in the process while scoring 11 to give them a poor 20 goal difference.
