Gareth Southgate is now looking to take England through to the 2020 European Championships after leading his troops through to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.

Back in September 2016 Sam Allardyce sensationally left his post by mutual consent after just 67 days in the role. Allardyce had been appointed England manager in July 2016, with the veteran gaffer signing a two-year deal to take charge of his country.

The former Sunderland, West Ham and Bolton boss, who succeeded Roy Hodgson, went on to win his first game in charge away to Slovakia but was forced to resign following a newspaper 'sting' which left his position untenable.
