Time at Club:
Southampton have appointed Ralph Hasenhuttl as their new manager, with the Austrian replacing the sacked Mark Hughes in early December 2018.
Hughes replaced Mauricio Pellegrino in the dugout on 14th March. He signed a contract through to the end of the season, saved the club from relegation, then penned a new three-year deal, but endured a shocking start to the following season.
Over the years Southampton have produced a number of talented young players, including Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Unfortunately, the Hampshire outfit have not been able to hold onto these stars as the lure of the Premier League's top clubs has been too strong. Although this is something the club have been determined to stop.
Former manager Nigel Adkins led the club to back-to-back promotions from League One up to the Premier League. Adkins built together a decent team who employ fast, attacking football, leading the Saints to Johnstone's Paint Trophy glory in 2010.
A mixed set of recent results has seen Southampton collect wins versus Leicester City, Huddersfield Town & Arsenal while suffering adverse results at Manchester City, West Ham United, Cardiff City & Tottenham Hotspur. Draws against Derby County, Chelsea & Manchester United has seen them show mid-table form at best.
